Sarah Mukherjee MBE

Sarah Mukherjee MBE - Chair

Sarah Mukherjee is the CEO of IEMA. She was the BBC's Environment Correspondent for many years, presenting on national and international BBC radio and television news, working – and winning awards – across the world. Since leaving the Corporation, she has had leadership roles in utilities and agriculture. She was a panel member for the National Parks Review and sits on the National Food Strategy Advisory Panel and is also a Non-Executive Director on the Board of the Environment Agency. Sarah was awarded an MBE for her services to agriculture and farmer well-being in 2021.

Sarah has been a Campaign for Real Ale beer judge and a rugby reporter in the past - two activities she still enjoys - and is a runner and yoga addict.

Area Director for Greater Manchester, Merseyside and Cheshire, Environment Agency

Lesley Worswick is the Area Director for Greater Manchester, Merseyside and Cheshire at the Environment Agency. She has a degree in Environmental Sciences from the University of Salford, and spent her early career in local authority Environmental Health. Lesley joined the Environment Agency in 1998 and has held a variety of roles across the organisation, predominantly in industrial regulation, climate change trading and producer responsibility in both front line operations and policy areas.As Area Director Lesley leads the Environment Agency’s work on the ground, delivering with partners for communities and for nature. She is part of a team of Area Directors working together to shape the environment across the north of England and playing a critical role in responding to the climate and nature emergencies, as well as helping the north with levelling up by enabling green growth that supports a prosperous economy.

As Community Connector for Groundswell Project in Manchester Angela finds, connects and amplifies the great work being done by community voluntary sector orgs across Greater Manchester. Supporting where needed and building networks that strengthen, bring peace, connectivity, and inclusion for all communities.

As Community Development & Support Worker she has been supporting different community orgs, giving consultancy around, governance, planning, events coordination for health awareness/ cultural/ educational projects, creative arts & enterprise concepts.

Angela also supports BME/African & African Caribbean cvs groups to better serve their communities, fill gaps in service due to inequalities or other challenges, looking at solutions. This involves enterprise and income generation ideas, developmental planning and fundraising where needed, in many different areas across Manchester.

Jo Harrison

Jo Harrison

Jo Harrison is the Director of Environment, Planning and Innovation at United Utilities.

Jo has over 20 years of experience working in the water industry and has worked for United Utilities since 1998. In her current role she is accountable for leading the approach to environmental and long term planning for the next 25 years; including developing and strengthening the Company’s approach to all aspects of the environment, climate change and carbon, asset management, risk and resilience.

Jo has a BSc in Geography and Ecology from the University of Sheffield and an MSc in Pollution and Environmental Control from Manchester University. She is a chartered member of the Institute of Water and Environmental Managers (CIWEM) and a Chartered Environmentalist. She is also a trustee of the Community Forest Trust and a trustee of the Rivers Trust.

Jo Holden - Sustainability Director, Peel L&P

Jo is a chartered environmentalist leading on all aspects of climate resilience, sustainability and ESG for landowner and regeneration business Peel L&P.

In 2019, Peel L&&P published its first Sustainability Five Year Plan, based on the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and in 2020 launched its net zero carbon office portfolio. Jo is keen to promote the links between net zero carbon and nature-based solutions to climate change and works with stakeholders across the North of England to promote a Natural Capital net gain approach. Prior to COP26, Peel L&&P joined the Race to Zero through Business Declares, with a commitment to help support a climate resilient future by publishing a Climate Positive Plan in January 2022.

Jo is a member of the GM Natural Capital Group, the GM Environment Fund Advisory Group and the GMCA’s Low Carbon Buildings Challenge Group.

Co-Founder and Managing Director, Finance Earth

Jamie co-founded Finance Earth in 2016 and leads Finance Earth’s investment advisory and fund creation work, designing and implementing innovative financing models for the natural and built environment. At Finance Earth, Jamie has designed a range of blended fund structures including: Greater Manchester’s Environment Fund, blending and strategically aligning public, philanthropic and commercial capital; co-design and management of a £50m blended impact investment fund, Community Owned Renewable Energy, that transitions solar assets into local community ownership; and a £50m Blue Impact Fund for marine and ocean health in partnership with WWF.

Natural Capital Co-ordinator, Greater Manchester Combined Authority

Krista has over 25-years’ experience of working as an environmental planner in the public, private and community sectors and joined the Greater Manchester Combined Authority as Natural Capital Coordinator in 2016.  In this role, Krista provides strategic support on delivering a natural capital approach as part of the Natural Course EU LIFE Integrated Project and the Greater Manchester Natural Capital Group.  Current projects include development of an Environment Fund for Greater Manchester; delivery of biodiversity net gain and natural environment priorities set out in the Greater Manchester 5 Year Environment Plan; promoting the work being delivered across Greater Manchester to manage the natural environment as part of a coordinated communications campaign.
